Hey Reddit community!
I always come on here and love the wisdom and humor I see. This is my first post but I am hoping to get some ideas from the amazing minds on the internet…
I found myself in a major career change back to square one for reasons outside of my control. It was super rough financially at first… just now getting on our feet. Now I am trying to figure out what career will actually work.
I have a BA in Sociology. I have many years of experience working with people. I started working as a Behavior Technician, took the test and got registered so now I am an RBT. But I am in my upper 30s now, I have two young school-aged children, and am the main “breadwinner” for my family. Hours are nice I get off work at 3pm M-F schedule so I definitely have time with my family. But I do need more income. I also just recently got my temporary certificate to teach a subject in grades 6-12. So I am thinking of looking into what positions are available this coming school year.
But my real question is, are there any career fields you recommend for me? I feel like is so much out there that I just may not know about yet. Any niche careers that you heard about that you wish you could have pursued? How do you even go about figuring out what you want to do in life at this age? TBH I never worried about how much a job field paid, I always focused on what I wanted to do, having purpose, meaning, fulfillment, making a difference… which is great but I’m seeing that doesn’t pay the bills… I would prefer not going back to school but I am willing to do some schooling for something that will guarantee me a good position/career.
If you got this far thank yoooou
