So a bit of context for this question. Today on stream I grinded for the Hundun achievement. I chose the Classic Guy skin while I usually play as LISE (I never got the achievement because of a bug years ago, that's why I have Classic Guy without the achievement)
The first two streams as LISE had pretty consistent performance. I had to shake of the rust, but eventually most of my runs ended in Neo Babylon. Stream two I even got to Sunken City twice.
But today, I was playing with the Classic Guy skin, and suddenly my runs ended in the Jungle, the Tide Pool, the dwellings too at times.
I didn't really think much of it at first, I was tired today after all, so maybe I was just playing worse.
But then I noticed something odd. Scorpions kept popping up out of pots with an alarming and strange rate. While normally I would get to sunken city and not see one scorpion, now it felt like I was seeing at least 3 on my way to the jungle. At one point I even got two from pots in the same level?? The wiki says the odds of this are .8% per pot. These seem like ludicrous odds to me.
So noticing that oddity, I decided to switch to Tina to confirm if Classic Guy was actually making the game harder. And would you know it, the Scorpions stopped spawning! I actually beat Hundun on my first serious Tina attempt after 4 hours of not even getting to the Sunken City, odd right?
In hindsight too, it did feel like traps and enemies were more common on Classic Guy, though this I'm not sure if I hallucinated.
Now one cherry on top of all this, is that when I went for one more run as Classic Guy to check if the scorpions came back, another anomaly happened. A dart trap in the mines shot a poisoned arrow. Nowhere on the wiki does it state it can do that nor have I ever seen this, I think. EDIT: So apparently there was a scorpion in that pot to make it a poisoned arrow. THE CONSPIRACY DEEPENS!!!
So all these weird anomalies make me believe Classic Guy very subtly makes the game harder. To the point where it hasn't been noticed yet.
Also ignore the wiki saying Classic Guy makes the game harder. One of my chatters did that to see if it would get removed, and this phenomenon doesn't seem to be documented otherwise.
So what does this sub think? Actually a phenomenon or am I just hallucinating?
