Hi everyone,
We’re planning a 9-night trip to Montenegro around October, flying into Tivat. We’ll rent a car and are mainly interested in mountains, nature, scenic drives and hiking (not really beaches).
Quick disclaimer: I used AI to help structure this post since my English isn’t perfect, hope that’s okay.
Would love feedback on whether this route makes sense or if we should adjust anything.
Current plan:
Day 1: Arrive in Tivat, pick up rental car, stay near Kotor/Tivat
Day 2–3: Explore Kotor + Lovćen National Park (viewpoints, light hikes, scenic drives)
Day 4: Drive north toward Durmitor National Park
→considering a stop at Biogradska Gora National Park on the way
Day 4–7: (3 nights): Stay in Žabljak area
→ hiking in Durmitor, Black Lake, viewpoints
→ visit Tara River Canyon
Day 7–9: Drive back south, stay near Kotor/Tivat again
→ relax, maybe one more scenic drive
Day 10: Flight back
Questions:
Does this pacing look reasonable or too rushed?
Is 3 nights in Durmitor enough or would you recommend 4?
Is Biogradska Gora worth the stop, or better to skip and focus on Durmitor?
Any must-do hikes (moderate level, possibly with a toddler)?
Would you suggest adding another mountain area instead of returning to Kotor for the last nights?
Thanks a lot for any tips 🙏
