Hello,
I am a 35 year old woman and found out I am pregnant 5 days ago. I have been seeing an experienced TCM practitioner and acupuncturist in the last few weeks and I actually believe he helped me get pregnant.
I went back to his studio today and told him the news. He says I can no longer do acupuncture sessions, and prescribed me a TCM herb mix recipe instead.
I googled some of the ingredients and saw that 2 of them are not advised during pregnancy.
Please note I had a first pregnancy which resulted in PPROM and death of my baby at 25 weeks last year. I did a ton of medical check-ups and we found out I had chronic endometritis, a low-grade inflammation of the endometrium which impacted implantation and placental function, causing the PPROM. I found out I have a lactose intolerance and went strictly dairy free and also avoid gluten.
My tongue usually has a white cast and red edges. I used to stick my legs out of the covers at night, but don't do it anymore. I am a very anxious, controlling person and had my gallbladder removed at 13 due to stones. My cycles average 36 days, with longer follicular phases. My bowel movements are mostly regular but before I started acupuncture I was extremely constipated, a problem which seems now resolved.
I am usually very thirsty and attracted to cold drinks.
I avoid alcohol, don't smoke and drink 1 espresso everyday.
Here is the full recipe of the herb mix I was prescribed today.
2 scoops in the morning and 2 at night (10gr in total):
- Xu Duan 20%
- Du Zhong 20%
- Bai Zhu 10%
- Dang Shen 10%
- Bai Shao Yao 10%
- Hou Po 10%
- Chai Hu 10%
- Sha Ren 10%
I read Hou Po and Chai Hu are not safe during pregnancy.
Could you please help me understand why my practitioner included them in the mix?
