Any advice on how to improve my style?

Any advice on how to improve my style?

I learned to draw over time, not following any courses or smth like that. I recently saw a post from Alex Vede, and i simply fell in love with his style. This drawing is not an exact copy, but is very much inspired by one of his illustrations. My goal is not to copy his exact style, but to develop my one with his as a base. I am aware that he is a pro, who really knows what he is doing, and I am drawinh more as a hobby. Also, since I draw as a hobby, i dont really want to make tons of exercises. I want to learn while drawing what I like:)

My Galaxy Tab s11 ultra setup (for artists)

I am making this post because i recently purchased a Galaxy Tab s11 ultra and had some problems at first, and i wished something like this existed.

I bought it for drawing. I used to have an old Huion Kamvas that needed to be plugged in my laptop, so I decided to go for the samsung tablet since I allready have a s20. I read great reviews about some other models, but my parents beat me to it and gifted me the s11 ultra for my birthday.

The first problem was the S pen. I think its a great pen, a bit light for drawing but it's ok. My problem was that I can't find replacement nibs for it, and since i draw a lot I know I will need a lot of spare nibs. I liked the little rubber tip on the pen, even if it didn't quiet feel like the pen on my old tablet (that one has a bit of texture on the screen to mimic paper). After a few days of searching for nibs, i found out about lamy EMR al star. That's my first recomandation. Turns out the tablet works very good with these 3rd party options (there are more options, I heard there is one from stadler but i used to write with lamy in school and i loved the grip of the pen). So i bought the pen with the rubber tip. It was very good, but it had more of a brush feel to it than the S pen.

After about 2 weeks, i tried an Apple tablet with a Paperlike screen and I really liked the friction. It was similar to my old tablet, so I decided to do some research. Paperlike seems to be very overpriced and only for apple, but i found Moko and Bellemond. I live in eastern europe and i could only find the option from Moko on amazon. (If there are better options please let me know!) I also purchased the POM tips for the lamy. The paper screen was abot 17€ for 2, and the tips were like 6€ for 4 tips.

This setup was the game changer. But first the negatives. The screen protector gives the screen a grainy-noisy look, but I can get over this. I also found a magnetic removable option, so I might try that one. Also, it's like a very fine sandpaper, so the plastic nib will wear out faster. I was expecting this since it is the exact thing thay happened on my old Huion tablet.

The feeling is way better than both the apple and my old huion (both of these might have the texture worn out). The price is good in my opinion, i think that the nibs can last 1 week (my first one lasted 5 days but i drew a lot because of how good it felt). I dont know about the paper screen, but after a week it feels more or less the same (if it's clean).

For me, this is perfect and might be the best digital drawing experience I had. If the noisy-grainy look on the screen is a deal-breaker for you, I still recommand a new EMR pen with spare nibs, because in my experience drawing on a tablet will eventualy break the nib of the pen. Also, make sure it works on the samsung tablet.

The guys from Lamy even called me after ordering to make sure its compatible.

TL;DR: I use the Lamy emr al star pen with the hard plastic POM nib, with a Moko paper screen. It gives the screen a grainy look, but for me, this is not as importang as the friction it provides.

PS: English is my second language, so please excuse my mistakes:)
