How do I ask for a raise when I’m already doing work above my title?

I’ve been at my job a little over two years. I was hired as a coordinator, mostly doing scheduling, reports, emails, and basic client follow up.

About six months ago, someone in a senior role left. At first my manager asked me to cover a few of their tasks temporarily. I was fine with that because I understood things were messy. But “temporary” has basically turned into my normal job now.

There is no job posting that I can see, and I’m still doing a lot of that senior-level work on top of my original tasks.

I’ve brought up my title and pay twice. Both times my manager said this is a good growth opportunity and that leadership has noticed me stepping up. That sounds nice, but nothing has actually changed. Same title, same pay, more work.

Last week she asked me to train a newer employee on some of these tasks. That made me pause because I’m now training someone else on duties I was never officially promoted into.

I don’t want to sound entitled or make things weird with my manager. I also know the job market is not great, so I’m not trying to quit tomorrow. But I’m starting to feel like I accepted a quiet promotion without the title or raise.

How do I bring this up professionally? Should I ask directly for a title and pay review, or is this usually a sign that I should start looking elsewhere?
