tldr:
Is the frogdaddy LOWGROW mix version good?
Can I use the regular mix for the bottom half of the tal viv and the lowgrow for the top half? Or will the regular one from the bottom half eventually overtake the low-grow stuff on the top half?
p.s) open to any other moss mix suggestions if there is a better fit for my goals.
Some background info and 2 questions. I wanted max diversity in moss, liverworts, microferns, and algae, etc.
I was gonna go with either the regular frogdaddys regular mix or the LOWGROW version. considered neherp, but from the looks of it, they use more fast bushy growing moss, and I don't want an overtake of sphagnum, java, and Christmas moss. If anyone knows a mix that fits my needs better than frogdaddys mix I'm also open to suggestions, so just lmk. Like I heard grafitimix is good too, so I'm considering that as well.
Time-wise, I don't care about waiting for growth since I plan to let the moss from the mix grow out on the hardscape with the cleanup crew before adding any other plants. My humidity, misting, circulating, and lighting will all be dialed in before the moss, but I'm also afraid of adding the mix (which is expensive) and having no growth. idk if that's possible, but I'll have high humidity and proper vivarium growlights, so hopefully it shouldn't be an issue.
So anyway:
question 1)
I see alot of comments praising the regular mix but no one really covered the LOWGROW. Has anyone tried the LOWGROW version?
question 2)
I was thinking maybe the regular frogdaddy mix closer to the bottom half of the vivarium, and the LOWGROW mix closer to the top half of the vivarium. So more mossy at the bottom and more algae/worts/micro stuff near the top half. What do y'all think? Will the bottom regular mix half overtake the top low grow mix half over time?
