Hey all,

I’ll be in Europe for work around Memorial Day (late May), and given how abysmal the season will be in the Western US, I’m hoping to sneak in some quality playboating while I’m over there. This would be an extension to my work trip so I am flexible on location.

A few constraints:

  • I’ll need to rent a boat - ideally modern playboat
  • Looking for reliable features that time of year
  • Bonus for easy logistics (close to towns, reasonable access from a major airport)

I’m mainly focused on freestyle/play features (holes or good waves), but I’m open to mixing in some river running if it’s worth it.

So far I’ve heard:

  • L’Argentière / Briançon (France)
  • Graz (Austria)
  • Soča (Slovenia)

For those who’ve paddled in Europe:

  • Where would you go for the best freestyle progression in late May?
  • Any spots that are especially rental-friendly?
  • Any “don’t miss” features?

I was unsure how to approach planning this so any insight is greatly appreciated!
