Sometimes this show is a hard watch for me with all its propaganda for the prison industrial complex. They changed Mosley’s character in this episode to make him seem more unlikable and justify Carisi’s campaign to make sure this is put under the jail. In the original episode Deonte did genuinely seem scared of Boyd and asked for Carisi’s advice multiple times. They mentioned how he would’ve never survived in jail without Boyd. Then in this episode while on trial they make him this cold heartless criminal mastermind. It seemed like they were going to go in a different direction but last minute they changed how they wanted portray Deonte’s character. It seems like they were trying to make Carisi not look like he had a vendetta against this kid but I don’t for me it didn’t land. There have been so many episodes where they give a disturbed young white male soooo much grace but when it’s a young black male they usually want to throw the book at them. I guess thats probably the most realistic part of the show.
