Will my hair return from the war??

War, in this case, is my ferritin levels!! I've been dealing with some iron deficiency for at least the last year, and I have really noticed the toll it has taken on my hair. I used to have incredibly thick hair, and while it's still thicker than average, it has thinned out quite a bit and is much duller and unrulier. I miss it! It was hot and heavy, but it was mine!

Has anyone had luck with their hair growing back after getting their iron levels up? Or should I start the grieving process for my former Fabio hair now?

For context: I've been having episodes of fevers, weight loss, dizziness, extreme fatigue, and bloating, so my doctor tested my ferritin last July, and it was ~35. We added iron supplements, it dropped down to 17 in January, and after adding vitamin C, it climbed back up to 32 in April. My hemoglobin has stayed steady in the low-normal range, but my RBC count continues to decline and is directly on the line between normal and low. I had a positive FOBT in April as well, so I imagine that's the culprit for the deficiency. I have a colonoscopy/endoscopy in June to check that out!
