I think I’m officially hitting my breaking point with this job search.
Everywhere I look, it’s the same thing: “New grads welcome.” Cool, sounds promising, right? Then I finally get a call, do a quick 5–10 minute interview, and somehow it always turns into, “Yeah… we’re really looking for someone with 2+ years of experience.”
So why even post it like that?
And don’t even get me started on some of these recruiters. Half the time it feels like they didn’t even read my resume. I’ll get hyped thinking it’s an actual opportunity, just for it to go nowhere or turn into something completely different than what was posted.
I’m trying to do everything right—applying consistently, staying ready, being open to different specialties—but it’s like you can’t win without experience, and you can’t get experience without someone actually giving you a chance.
It’s frustrating because I know I’m not the only one dealing with this, especially as a new grad. We put in the work, got through school, learned the skills… and now we’re stuck in this weird limbo.
At this point, I’m just tired of getting my hopes up for interviews that feel pointless from the start.
If anyone in DFW has actually found a place that genuinely hires new grads (and means it), I’d seriously appreciate any leads or advice.
Just needed to vent.
