Non-touristy suggestions?

Hi! I’m going on a trip to Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg area Oct 18-23. I’m going with family but personally really despise tourist gimmicks. I feel like it’s kind of a silly question but what’s there to do that’s not a tourist trap a-la the Jurassic ride or Pirate dinner show? I love nature and would love some suggestions for potential hikes, etc.

Follow up

Hi! I’ve had a couple of experiences where I left for the last scheduled visit/ drop-in. I sent the final update about the pet and heard nothing back. I.E. “Took out the garbage/ left mail/ the cats have fresh water & food. Key is under the mat!” And heard nothing after. Idk if it’s just my anxiety/ curiosity but I’d like to know how they felt about my overall care. Do y’all get the “ok cool our transaction is over I’m home” at the end of a stay?

Archiving bookings?

Hi! I was just curious. I seem to be having several bookings over the 4th weekend and since that I was not able to book bc of established bookings or I responded within 10 minutes but was told I was too late and they already had someone. I wanted to see if this affected my “ranking”. They don’t cancel or archive. I’ve always had to archive bc “owner found another sitter”

Help with potential biohazard?

Hi!

I had a client who had to travel due to her mom’s funeral. She was going to be gone for 2 1/2 weeks. She has 8 personal dogs, 2 cats & ended up with 17 foster puppies. I did a meet & greet and it was very apparent she was a type B personality. Very disorganized. The cats were kept 24/7 in a bathroom (it was a very pretty large bathroom but still) with an automatic feeder & litter box. She literally told me you don’t have to really worry about them. Her personal dogs had access to the backyard via doggy door but none were adequately housetrained. Everyday I would come in to accidents and would spend about 1/2-3/4 of my time in the house to cleaning up accidents- constantly. She had an office that could be seperated so the puppies while I was there had access to the backyard. The house was disorganized and cluttered when I did a meet & greet she asssured me I would have a “fresh start”. This was the worse experience I have ever had with rover. And she knew it as she provided me with gloves. In 4 days I went through 3 garbage bags just cleaning up dog excrement. It was disgusting. I reported it to Rover but they supposedly haven’t heard back from her. It was the closest I have ever seen to a hoarder situation and I am considering reporting her to authorities. It was genuinely horrible. What would you do?

Hi! I was just wondering what a reasonable rate was for house sitting. I just got two house sitting requests and right now my rate is $26 a day. It’s not hourly but I’m expected to be in the house for 8 hours or so. To me that seemly unreasonably low. What do y’all charge?
