I recall hearing that Disney let the IP rights lapse, and now the original author has them back. But he doesn't necessarily own the rights to the movie's story, versions of characters, or visuals, does he?

Like. I feel like that puts the ip in tricky waters. But then again I don't have access to anywhere that would sell Roger Rabbit merch.

Has anyone noticed anything? Less merch? Does anyone know where the property rights stand?
