Girl Had Magic Eyeglasses Circa 1945-1965
I was about nine or ten, so it was around 1979 or 1980 when I read a book that fits the description, but I cannot recall the title or author’s name. It was the book that got me hooked on reading, and I would dearly love to find a copy!
It was from the library of an old, tiny school in South Georgia. The book dated somewhere between 1945 and 1965 based on books typical of that library, the few illustrations that were in the book, and the kid culture described in the story.
Two or three things from the book stand out…. The eye doctor having fun with it and being a bit mysterious or cryptic when giving the little girl the glasses, one of the kids crashing their bicycle, and the girl’s first discovery that the glasses were magic when she accidentally turned a boy into a squirrel.
