The referendum is focused on voicing student dissent against the the Board of Visitors' Resolution to eliminate all campus Living Learning Programs. The BOV's anti-LLP Resolution also pushes all non-freshman students off of campus housing, forcing them into Blacksburg's already strained private housing market. Not only would this be a disastrous decision for VT student life, it would also raise rents for everyone in the Blacksburg area. Unsurprisingly, Jeanne Stosser (CEO of CMG Leasing) is one of the leading BOV members pushing for this Resolution to pass.
Right now undergraduate students can vote against this Resolution and save the Living Learning Programs. The referendum is only open until midnight TODAY (06 May 11:59pm) and requires around 8000 more YES votes by the end of today on GobblerConnect: https://gobblerconnect.vt.edu/submitter/election/start/725849
We need all hands on deck, so please help out in every way you can:
Undergraduate students: Please take 2 seconds to vote Yes, and be sure to share it with all of your friends. Also ask your professors to share the link to the referendum on Canvas and in classrooms.
Faculty & Instructors: Tell your students about the referendum through Canvas and in your classrooms.
