Unknown large copper coin

Found in a field in western MA. I can’t seem to figure out what it is - it appears to be a male figure with a small ponytail and a slight smile. All large cents I can find of US are right facing or not male. Though it may not be male, it still doesn’t line up with any of the large cents I was looking at online. A very faint “R” and “E” can be made out to the right of the bust. There’s other lettering but it’s very hard to make out. The back is totally smooth and featureless from being worn

Anyone have any insights?

First colonial era coin

Found this today in the middle of a field, western MA, after finding a few dandy buttons and being convinced there was more there. Was definitely a rush to find
