Kern County, CA — Medi-Cal Inquiry
I am not sure what to do because I keep getting the run around. My employment insurance ended on 5/1 and I am not working or have any income. My last paycheck was as 4/10.
I applied for Medi-Cal on 4/10 through Covered CA. I called the (877)410-8812 on 5/4. They told me if I do it through Calbeneifits it might process faster. So I was not able to keep my therapist appointment on 5/7 for my on-going therapy.
I tried calling the Mojave office today where I live—they gave me the number for the Delano office and said that they are handling expediting applications. I left a VM and have been calling all day. I tried calling the Kern office again and they told me there is no such thing as expediting applications—and that it is only for cash benefits.
My therapist office only takes Anthem BC managed care. I won’t be able to have therapy till July if I miss the May 15th deadline and it is a medical necessity for my mental health.
