Let me tell you about blood.
It’s dark and vascular. It pools. It clots.
It runs. It bruises. It screams.
It beats. It betrays. It lies.
Dried, acrid and staining.
It sticks under your nails. It pours.
And oh, how thin it is.
It slips through your fingers, but not without leaving behind every red, stained, memory and the knowing
of how it got there.
It flows through every fold in your brain.
It appears and controls without choice.
And though you try to forget its presence,
The smallest cut can reveal itself to be seen.
I know about blood.
If only I could escape from it.
