Hi. I have an ileostomy right now, and its been alredy 2 years since i had one, but in November of last year i had a big problem, where they had to make an operation and redo my ileostomy, so my stoma changed not only sizes, but its more flat (i would say is skin level), and sometimes it changes forms (unfortunately not any single form it takes is a circle or similar), so cutting its not an option, something that has been a problem for me since the first stoma i had was 15cm and i didnt had to use a ring or anything, i barely had to cut, and i didnt had any problem. I started using rings once i got this stoma because its impossible to make it work without one, since i have to take out the stoma (with a ring an a belt), but every single time i put a ring on it, one of this two things happen: 1. the ring gets burned on the upper side (yes, just in the upper side, even if i put part of the bag on the upper side), so it goes straight to my skin after one day (two at most) or 2. the ring goes over my stoma, covering part of it, making like a turtle neck that leaves part of my skin exposed, which i know is how it should be, BUT WHY IS MY SKIN EXPOSED. So right now i don't have any idea of what should i do, ive been to my ostomy nurses since january, and they can't figure out completly whats the problem or what does work best for me. For reference, i'm using Deep convex ostomy base plate (ref 16961) from coloplast, Click ostomy pouch (ref 11482) from coloplast, and the ring is eakin cohesive small (ref 839002).
Just so u guys know, i cut my base at 1/8 (32cm) since its the closest, and the ring does the rest. I'm with coverage for all of this, since i can't really afford much, so i'll try out everything that is from CB Medical Canada.
This has gotten to a point where I'm looking for solutions in internet rather than in the hospital (i love my nurses, but at this point Im really depressed because of this, and every time i need to change my bag, i crash out because ITS SO HARD DOING IT ALONE, just so it last ONE DAY).
