If you have seen my previous post on here you’d know my little sister brought home a goldfish without informing my family and we are not equipped at all to handle it. I am the only one who did actual research and genuinely cares about the animal.
If, my family chooses not to rehome, and as a last resort I have to cycle the tank how on earth do I go about it?

(Previous Post going into detail about the goldy’s conditions)

Also these are the supplies I’m hoping my sister will consider, she’s hardly a teenager btw.

70-75 gallon tank

One double sponge filter

air pump,

airline tubing

check valve

API Freshwater Master test kit

Seachem Prime dechlorinator

Omega One Small Sinking Goldfish Pellets(Food)

UPDATE: I have a friend who’s an expert with gold fish, everything is going ‘swimmingly’ now than god.

I’m hoping there’s a way to surrender a fish to a shelter because I really don’t trust my family to take care of the goldfish—the last fish we had years ago was a beta and I was six, my mom let me take care of the fish alone in a tiny tank and of course it died, I really don’t want this fish to share the same fate. We have a tiny fish bowl, two tiny of course to put the goldfish with the same water from the bag in. She is planning to get supplies and food with her dad tomorrow. I’m hoping then that we can find the goldfish a better home or it can live at her dad‘s who I trust more with a pet other than a dog or cat. I have no idea what to do beyond that so any advice would be helpful. If there is a beginner thread in the subreddit I will look into it and do my own research beyond this.
