First time, Long Time
Hello everyone, long time lurker and first time poster here. I first want to thank so many of you for sharing your journeys and for being so forthcoming about your experiences, motivations, and progress.
I just completed my first injection of 2.5mg with the Zepbound Kwikpen and feel great about it. It took me about of year of reading about GLP-1s to actually commit to doing this, and a lot of the reasons I became comfortable doing this are because of many of you.
A little about me: I'm 39 years old and have struggled with weight since I was in high school, after my Mom kept me on a medication that made my weight shoot up over 100 lbs. In the past 25 years I have yo-yo'd with diets and fitness like many of you had. I've lost over 50 lbs about ten different times and lost over 120 lbs two different times.
When the pandemic and lockdowns began, I was knee deep in my largest weight loss over. I had just lost 130 lbs and was actively eating well/clean and going to the gym six days a week and hiking on my active rest days. I have severe ADHD so sticking to a routine can be a challenge but when I find one that works I lock in. The pandemic completely threw that out of wack, as it did for so many of us who were lucky enough to survive it or not contract Long COVID.
When I started that journey I was 379.8 lbs (February 18, 2019). On March 15, 2020 I weighed 249 lbs. 130 lbs lost with diet and exercise. Once lockdowns happened and my routine went away, I quickly regained the weight and by March of 2021 I was already back to 335 lbs. Ultimately, by August of 2022 I gained all the weight back and then some, I weighed 397 lbs. I again focused on my diet (replacing sugar sodas with zero sugar was huge for me) and was able to get back down to 335 lbs by February of 2024. I hung around 335-345 for about a year until recently, I am currently 360 lbs. Moderately active but the food noise, a term I was unaware of until this subreddit, has been nonstop for sometime. I decided to commit to both Zepbound, overhauling my diet to one that is sustainable long term, and to getting back in the gym consistently.
I am excited for this journey and wanted to thank those of you who have been so vulnerable and forthcoming about your experiences. Once I go through this there is no going back, I will never allow myself to get to this point again. This is a more than a financial investment (significant of course), this is an investment in the rest of my life.
Thank you all, I look forward to reading more of your updates and experiences - as well as sharing my own.
