Hey everyone!
Once, we used to collect website feedback through emails and Google Docs but processing it all took way too much time. We switched to a popular feedback tool which helped initially. However the rising monthly costs eventually outweighed the actual time we were saving.
This led us to build our own alternative called Spotfix
Leaving feedback is simple: user just highlights text on the webpage and a popup appears where they can write a comment and attach a screenshot or file before hitting send.
Processing that feedback is just as easy:
- Every submitted item automatically includes the page URL and the specific text or image data the user highlighted.
- You can manage everything right inside the widget or in a dedicated workspace.
- In the workspace all feedback turns into a regular task list where you can set deadlines assign people and update statuses.
- You can also choose to keep the widget private for just your team and clients or make it public to gather bug reports from any website visitor.
The main difference from competitors is our pricing philosophy. When we decided to turn this into a public product we made sure not to forget what annoyed us about other tools in the first place. Because of that we chose a pricing model that is quite unusual for this market:
- The cost is fundamentally lower than the alternatives.
- It does not depend on how many users or websites you have. Every single tier includes unlimited users unlimited websites and all features.
- The price only grows if you actually need more file storage.
This saves a huge amount of time for the person leaving the feedback because they do not have to write long explanations. It also saves time for the developer fixing it. Most importantly it saves your budget.
Popular alternatives are great but if you look at the economics they just do not always pay off the saved time. We designed Spotfix to keep that balance fair and sustainable.
I am sharing this because I really want to hear your thoughts on this approach from other founders. Do you guys experience this same problem with feedback tools getting way too expensive as your team grows? Is an unlimited pricing model like this something that would actually solve a headache for you?
