A guide on how to move Xbox PC Gamepass saves to Steam
Hello! Just thought I would make this quick guide for anyone else who is playing on Xbox Gamepass, because it's leaving in 10 days. I couldn't find any clear guides online about this so if you were looking for one too, well here it is XD
Credits to sou_nobbao on Steam for the guide, I found their instructions on this discussion! (wanted to expand and clarify their guide, as well as post it here instead just so more people who potentially have this problem see it!)
I highly recommend picking up a Steam copy (though I didn't do this myself and got a copy thru "a totally legal" way #broke) because steam is just better lmao. Keep in mind this will probably not carry over achievements, if you care about that sort of stuff.
AND MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR SAVE FILE PLS, IDK IF CORRUPTION IS POSSIBLE BUT BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY!!!
Step 1: Get the Persona 4 Golden Save Tool on NexusMods.
Step 2: Make a (throwaway) new game in the Steam copy of the game. Nothing here matters so you can just fast forward to the part where you get control of Yu.
Step 3: Make sure you save using the butterfly! Then exit the game and open the Save Tool.
Step 4: Click on "File > Open Xbox Save" and you should see a string of random numbers which is your profile. Then, click on the corresponding "data000x.bin" for the save you wanna transfer. These numbers are the same as in the game when you save, totaling to 16.
Step 5: Now that you have your Xbox save open, you can transfer this to the steam save you made prior by going to "File > Save As File", where you can navigate to "<Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\1113000\remote\" (or something along those lines, if anyone has a direct file location they can show in the comments I'd highly appreciate it as I don't have a legit copy to show!) and replace the "data000x.bin" you see there. (the number again corresponds to the save file you picked when making the throwaway steam save)
Congrats! You now have successfully moved your Xbox save to the Steam version!
