Shari’s Cafe & Pies has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy
Since all Shari’s locations in Oregon closed in 2024, there are only a small number left now in Washington, Idaho, and California (around 9 total). The Puyallup location also closed recently, which honestly wasn’t too surprising given how many others have shut down lately. From what I’ve read, the company behind Shari’s has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Over the past few years, the chain has just been slowly shrinking with a bunch of closures across the Pacific Northwest. It kind of got me wondering what the long-term plan is.
Here’s the article I’m referring to:

So I’m wondering:
- Is this bankruptcy mainly a restructuring to keep some stores open?
- Or is it basically a slow shutdown of the chain?
- Are the remaining locations just staying open until their leases end?
Shari’s has been declining for a long time, but the bankruptcy filing makes it feel like the remaining locations outside of Oregon may be entering a more final stage. I could be wrong, though.
