Travelling as a South African

My husband and i, along with our toddler, have been keen to do some travelling in other African countries. There are a bunch we're interested in visiting but are still in the planning stage so no first choices yet. Some countries we're keen on just off the top of my head are Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, The Gambia.

That said, im sure you all know what's currently going on in SA. My concern is that we may face issues with backlash related to that as our passports will state the obvious and have to be used for pretty much everything. I dont think we really would, but it is a thought at the back of my mind. We'd be sticking to typical touristy areas and probably resorts as its just more practical with a toddler but ideally we would like to get out a bit with the locals occasionally and maybe hire a car for a road trip or two.

Realistically, do you think we'd face any concerns? Would it be better to wait a year or two until things calm down a bit?
