I just failed a class because my professor flagged my work as AI with no option to appeal.

What makes it worse is… yeah, I did use AI, but I honestly thought I was being lowkey about it. I wasn’t just copying and pasting, I rewrote things, edited it, tried to make it sound like me.

Still got hit with academic misconduct and an automatic fail.

I get that I messed up, but having zero chance to explain anything or take a penalty short of failing the entire class feels extreme. Especially when it’s not like I submitted something completely untouched.

why is turnitin ai detector flagging normal human writing

it feels like the system just guesses and calls it ai without proof

students get stressed over something they didnt even do

how is that fair
