Govee Lamp pairs, works initially, but then becomes unresponsive.
Here’s my set up
Govee Floor Lamp 2
Tri-Band wireless router 2.4, 5, 5.8ghz all on the same SSID
iOS 27, iPhone 16
Apple TV 4K
I understand that my lamp needs to connect to a 2.4 GHz network. So when I set up this lamp, I went in to my wireless router settings and turned off the 5.0 and 5.8 GHz radios and only use the 2.4 GHz radio. The network name SSID is the same. That way my iPhone is on a 2.4ghz network when it pairs with the lamp and the lamp can see the 2.4ghz network.
I add the lamp to the home app via matter and everything pairs successfully.
After things pair successfully, on my iPhone I can turn off my Wi-Fi and still control the lamp through the Internet, using cellular data.
However, when I turn the 5.0GHz and 5.8 GHz radio back on, on my router, the lamp becomes unresponsive inside the Home app. With that said, it still works fine through the official Govee app. So I’ve deduced it still has a wifi signal.
I’m not sure why the matter protocol stops working once I turn 5ghz network back on.
I have other matter, accessories, connected to the same network and don’t have any issues, including a Govee curtain light.
Any ideas?
UPDATE:
TLDR: IT WAS A SETTING IN MY ROUTER. IN LAN IPV6 SETTINGS, Look for Advanced Router Advertisement Configuration. Then look for interval for periodic RA messages. Set Max to 60 and Min to 20. Save and reboot your Govee lamp and HomeKit hub, likely your Apple TV.
