Budget upgrade advice.
We have out grown our system and I have learnt my DIY set up is inefficient. We've got through past winters ok, and summer is never a problem. But this year I've had ti run the generator every few days.
I have 1 x 250 amp hr lifepo4 about 4 years old CaTL cells.
1x50 amp epever mppt
5 x 400 watt panels
1 x 12v 2000w inverter.
Plan A is to go to 24v system, but buy new batteries and inverter and a second 50a charge controller. But the costs are really adding up. Might be unavoidable, but if I have to spend money, thought I would get some advice on the most cost effective and efficient way to boost our set up. We are a family of four, off grid, running household lights, a chest freezer, small fridge, laptops and devices. I use a generator dueing winter to top up ther battery, and to run high draw applicances such as rice cooker. Found the thing that burns the most power is my 14 yr old playing Xbox.
I have read that its not advisable to add a new 12v lifepo4, because the other is part way through its life and will age the new one?
Welcome any advice and tips. Please and thank you.
