UH Undergraduate Research Platform- Feedback Requested
Hey everyone! About a year ago, I posted here about building LabLink, a platform to improve how UH students find and connect with undergraduate research opportunities on-campus. Since then, the project has grown a lot, and I wanted to share a quick update + ask for feedback again.
One major thing I learned from both students and faculty is how fragmented the current process feels. Students often don’t know which labs are accepting undergrads, how to approach professors, or how to get started, while faculty receive large amounts of unstructured cold emails from students.
Since the original post, I’ve:
- Built a working MVP
- Won 1st place in a Wolff Center student pitch competition
- Surveyed 100+ UH students and over a dozen faculty members
- Spoken with faculty/admin across multiple UH colleges
LabLink is now being developed as a centralized research platform where faculty can post opportunities/manage applications, while students can apply directly to labs, complete onboarding/training inside the platform, and communicate with faculty in a more structured way.
I’m currently gathering as much student feedback as possible before bringing the survey data and pilot proposal to OURMA/UH admin in hopes of launching a pilot program here at UH (100% free to students).
If you’re a UH student, I’d really appreciate if you could fill out the survey below and share it with friends, GroupMes, clubs, labs, etc. The more feedback I can gather, the better the platform can become. Thank you, and feel free to DM me or comment with any questions I can answer!
