Indie psychological horror paperback about a farm, a cult, and an accelerated pregnancy. Ends with the line "I will raise him perfectly, big brother."
Hello peeps , I am trying to help my brother find the exact title and author of an obscure indie/self-published horror book he read. It was a paperback copy.
It does share a title with a famous mass-market serial killer thriller, which completely breaks and buries any Google or Amazon searches I try to do. I need help finding the actual independent author of this specific version.
Here are the exact plot points:
The Opening: The book starts with the sudden madness and suicide of the family's father on an isolated farm.
The Family: The mother goes completely catatonic from the trauma, leaving the older brother (the protagonist) to run the farm. He relies heavily on his younger sister, who seems completely polite, helpful, and normal.
The Cult: The protagonist discovers the surrounding town is controlled by a satanic cult that has a dark prophecy centered around him.
The Twist Scene: The brother has sex with his girlfriend. Immediately afterward, her belly supernaturally swells into a full 9-month pregnancy in just five seconds.
The Climax: The townspeople close in, and they barricade themselves in the barn. The cult breaks in, knocks the brother unconscious, and the girlfriend gives birth.
The Ending: The brother wakes up to find out his polite little sister was actually the cult mastermind the entire time. She picks up the newborn baby and says the final line of the book to him: "We will do great things, big brother. I will raise him perfectly." And my brother said he’s pretty sure the protagonist dies.
