Just to find a book about an orphan girl. One day a woman comes into the orphanage spots her and believes she is the perfect child to adopt to train to be a ballerina. The next thing I remember is a bit fuzzy but basically on the day shes suppose to audition (i think) she gets her first period and has such horrible cramps that she misses out on the audition which enrages her new mother. If I recall the cover of the book was black. But I got the book at a thrift store decades ago so many of the details are fuzzy.
