I'm visiting Kyrgyzstan solo this July, flying into Bishek. I've done a few solo backpacking trips in the past and normally just fly in with nothing booked and find out what to do/book at my first hostel and go from there.

Was wondering if the same could be done in Kyrgyzstan? I'd imagine some of the tours book out quite far in advance so wanted to know if I'd genuinely miss out on some experiences if I didn't book anything ahead of time.

Also would be great to know from anyone that's done hikes/treks in Kyrgyzstan whether you can rent gear (tents, sleeping bag etc) for those multi day hikes or whether I need to bring my own!
