Driving car to ride somewhere safer.
From my front door I am about 6 miles from the less traveled, safer roads. Another 3 or 4 and I can find some gravel. I have always thought riding to get to these roads made more sense. 1. I'm not driving my car. 2. I always got about 20 miles in to add to my route. 3. I like to promote bike use in my town. Show people that the bike lanes actually get used. But, I have to say the Captain's obvious thing here. I am afraid for my life riding around traffic these days. Almost every ride I have some sort of crazy driver situation. Looking at their phone, drugged out, drunk, reckless, speeding... I recently downloaded an app that shows every police call in my area. Holy shit. It's insane. I'm just gonna drive out where at least I'm somewhat safer and can see them coming to give myself a fighting chance with my tiny mirror on my glasses. End of rant, thanks for listening. :)
