It's been 3 years since diagnosed with AVN, finally both of my hip joints have been replaced
I became a cyborg officially 🤖
steroids! that meds saved my life but that destroyed my hip joints for 3 damn years. i couldn't run, and i had to use a cane when I walked. ppl stared at me all the time because they thought i'm too young to use a cane.
The doctor said I should use my painful hip joints as much as I could, and I used my old hip joints for about a year, but the symptoms were getting worse. I couldn't go upstairs so I decided to undergo THR
I asked my doctor if I could replace both of my hip joints but he said no, i decided to take the right side first because AVN started on the right side first
right side's surgery was nov 19, 2025, and left side's surgery was may 6, 2026,
today, i'm going to visit the hospital to remove stitches, and I can finally take a shower 3 days later, so i don't need to use shower wipes anymore
The big difference of 2 surgery was, i take opioid shots for both surgeries but refused to take opioid meds on the left side of the surgery, because opioid meds left me with severe withdrawal symptoms so I take regular pain killers now.
During hospitalization, I had to stay with 4 other patients and there was no privacy at all even if I had a curtain, some of the patients were crazy and made me angry. A patient smoked a cigarette in a hospital room. He was a mess! The hospital warned him that they'll call the police if he keeps smoking in the hospital room.
And a nurse made me crazy because she didn't let me elevate my legs after the left side of the surgery, and I couldn't sleep because that caused my back pain. I felt great that this subreddit took my side, so I elevated my legs again when another angelic nurse started to work at that time. (comments made me relieved. thank you for your comments)
The hospital room was a nursing ward hospital room, and the nurse's aides helped us a lot. They said "We shouldn't meet again after you go home even if we're used to it for 10 days of your hospitalization. Because that's the good sign that you're getting healthy" I already miss them so much because they treat me very nicely.
And I want to lose weight when the left side is fully recovered. My old hip joints were very painful so i couldn't be physically active but i should move my lazy ass after full recovery.
Practicing jogging is one of my recovery goals.
Because I couldn't run for 3 years, i forgot how to run, and i want to do my leg weight training again.
i couldn't sleep because of pain right now, i take pain killers and I spreadrelief lotion and use an ice pack all the time but i believe the time will take my pain away very soon.
Wish me luck, and I wish you an amazing life too :)
This subreddit gave me a lot of advice, and I appreciate all of you.
And ask me anything if you're looking forward to undergoing THR
