ADHD_WAIVER_

Looking for some honest feedback from those familiar with Army Aviation and the WOFT process. I’m currently a 15T (Blackhawk mechanic) in the Army National Guard and am interested in dropping a warrant officer packet for aviation. The biggest thing making me hesitate is my history of ADHD.

For context:
- Diagnosed with ADHD years ago.
- Off medication for over 3 years.
- Currently maintaining a 4.0 GPA while pursuing a degree in Aviation Maintenance Management.
- Have a neuropsychological evaluation from my previous Reserve component flight physical process recommending full flight duty (class 3/Crew Chief).
- Have a second neuropsychological evaluation through the National Guard also recommending full flight duty (also class 3/CE)
- Successfully navigated the FAA ADHD pathway and obtained my FAA medical certificate after completing the required neuropsychological testing.
- currently hold my student pilots license (taking my written exam soon)

Across multiple evaluations, the conclusions have generally been that I either do not demonstrate ADHD symptoms or that any prior diagnosis does not impact my ability to safely perform aviation duties. On paper, I feel like I’ve done everything possible to prove my case. However, I keep hearing people say that an ADHD history is a non-starter for Army Aviation or that pursuing a packet is a waste of time. Has anyone here personally seen applicants with a prior ADHD diagnosis get selected or medically qualified for Army Aviation after being off medication and completing the required evaluations?
I’m not looking for guarantees… just realistic feedback from people who have been through the process, sat on boards, worked flight medicine, or have firsthand experience.
At this point I’m trying to figure out whether I’m facing a difficult path or a genuinely impossible one.
