Turns out I peaked as a writer at 13 with a My Little Pony oneshot
So I got back into writing about a year ago after almost 11 years away. Nothing too serious, just for fun. I finished a 2500 word prologue for a fantasy isekai thing because I genuinely love the genre. I’ve been reading more than ever, trying to follow advices, and somehow... I keep getting noticeably worse.
Then today I dug up the very first fanfiction I ever wrote 11 years ago on some now archived site. A 1000 word My Little Pony oneshot. The plot: a nightclub dance off in Ponyville where everyone dances so hard that Celestia straight up forgets to raise the sun and Luna has to come drag her home.
Here’s the painful part. My 13 year old self absolutely destroys my current self. Writing, syntax, formatting, grammar, literary devices, you name it. Even the comments were solid constructive criticism. I don’t know what happened but my skill level has plummeted off a cliff.
I am currently a sentient potato with a keyboard.
