DIY Repair Instructions for rusted Hyperlite System Binding Ratchets

Hey everyone,

I am an avid Hyperlite System Binding fan and I am using these bindings for the third year now. But the problem I am facing - as many other System binding riders - is the notorious rusting of the ratchets. The spring mechanism is hold by a riveted bolt that will rust away and make the mechanism break.

The only option so far would be a replacement ratchet (around 20$ / 17€). But a friend of mine - he doesn't use social media and allowed me to populate the idea here (cheers Marc!) - is an engineer and came up with a simple solution:

You need a 34mm long, 3mm wide socket-head-bolt (you might have to cut them to the size) and a jam lock nut for it, as well as two washers. You can thread the bolt through the two-parts ratched with the spring inbetwen and each side to the screw (and nut) secured by one of the washers. Works perfectly and material price is below 2$.

So, if you face the same issues (you might be when riding System bindings), this is a perfect, very long lasting and also cheap solution to repair your ratches on your own!
