There has got to be something wrong with me. I'll plan a romance fic, but then I'm like "but how do they get together, how do their lives intersect" and I end up writing like.... Backstory and plot and its two converging lines. Except I always burn out before I get to the convergence and the romance between the two actually starts.
But it feels like if I don't do the setup first, there's going to be missing context both for the reader and myself as I'm a bit of a pantser.
As an example, there's a crossover I'm going between a fandom and F/SN. The crossover character arrives in the Fourth War with a bunch of issues and the romance doesn't start until the Fifth War, ten years and a battle down the line. That's what I mean by backstory and plot before the romance.
It's... So frustrating.
