Parents' Canada TRV renewal rejected (never traveled on 1st visa). They are visiting Seattle (USA) for 3 months in July—should we apply from India now or from the US when they land?
Hello everyone, need some suggestion for visa
I'm a Canadian citizen and my parents are Indian citizens.
They were approved for a Canada visitor visa before but never traveled on it. We recently (October 2025) applied for a renewal and it was rejected.
Reason for rejection (Just one) : No significant family ties outside canada
They have valid US visas and are staying with my brother in Seattle for 3 months starting this July. I want them to visit me in Vancouver since it's so close.
Which option is safer/better for approval?
- Apply from the US in July: Wait until they land in Seattle, but I'm worried IRCC will flag them for applying as tourists from a third country, or their passports will get delayed in the mail.
- Apply from India after US visit: Use the Seattle trip to prove their visit to US is genuine but I miss the golden chance of showing them Canada.
Has anyone applied for a Canada TRV while visiting the US as a tourist? Which path has higher approval odds? Thanks!
