Accounting Manager Role
I got promoted 3 months ago to an Accounting Manager. The job description was written more like a “super senior accountant”. Within the last month, it feels like the role and expectations have changed. I was part of hiring process for a senior accountant. In the meanwhile, I’ve been preparing and reviewing my own JEs and B/S rec along with ensuring the P&L and B/S are complete and accurate. Also, guiding our AP personnel on proper coding and other related AP issues. I’ve also had to document processes to understand the business even further. With all this being said, I feel the expectations have changed and are more in line with an accounting manager role. Specially once the senior accountant comes on board.
I’m curious, for those of you who have been in this role or are managing an accounting manager what are the expectations?
