To preface, I would never refer to myself as a cinephile, despite having an appreciation for the medium, so take that into consideration…

Does anyone else feel like the movies of 2026 have been some of the best releases of the entire 2020’s so far? I’ve seen The Drama, Michael, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 in the past two weeks and left each theater feeling more hopeful about the future of film.

I feel like Sinners really kickstarted this wave a year ago, and it took everyone else time to catch up.

We still have a long way to go with color-grading, truth telling, etc, but I have hope. Anyone else?
