I have always been super against AI in academia for myself. I am 26 years old, have a 3.61 GPA with 3 kids and a 5-year business. I get the readings, assignments and papers done and have never used AI in my academic career. I am however, curious about how others use it as a tool. I am currently taking online classes, though I do go on campus in the fall for classes, and I don't have anyone to proofread my papers. Are there specific AI tools that can provide academic feedback? I tried it with a work proposal of mine and specifically wrote in the prompt "do not write for me" and it did anyways I was so mad. This was google gemini. So I tried low stakes and the results are wayyyy too risky and I don't want anything to do with that. I got flagged for AI last year and my english professor went to bat for me over it because he could attest to my writing style, but I am at a new university and don't have many professors in my corner in the case of such an event. Is this still pushing it with an academic feedback tool? I am neurodivergent so getting another set of eyes, or machine eyes lol, on it, it would be nice. Open to all opinions on this- but don't be mean, I'm doing my best and am simply curious. Thank you!
