Wasn’t looking but it found me

I’ve been with my current firm, a large national insurance defense firm, for about a year and a half (10+ years as a para). Recently, an in-house recruiter reached out to me about a newly created paralegal position in a different practice area at their firm and encouraged me to apply.

On paper, the opportunity looks great. The firm is less than 10 years old, has strong Glassdoor reviews, and the salary and benefits package are significantly better than what I’m currently receiving.

My hesitation is that I’d be moving from a large, established firm with offices across the country to a much smaller firm where I would primarily be supporting a single attorney. While the compensation and opportunity are appealing, I’m trying to weigh the stability, resources, and growth opportunities of a larger firm against the potential benefits of joining a smaller, growing practice.

Has anyone made a similar move from Big Law or a large defense firm to a smaller firm? What factors did you consider, and do you have any regrets?
