Has anyone ever taken PPL while also receiving short term disability through Sunlife/PEF?

I assume that because PPL is a contract benefit through the state and STD insurance is through Sunlife that there should be no issue taking both at the same time. I could not find anything online or in the sunlife STD benefits document stating this is not allowed.

I’m due to give birth early next year and was planning on only taking the 12 weeks of PPL without using any accrued time. But I'm wondering if I can only receive the STD benefit if I take sick time off.

I’m planning to call PEF tomorrow to confirm. TYIA!
