Listing an unfinished master's degree on my CV?
Hi all,
This question may have been asked here before, but I wanted to get some thoughts on my particular situation. I am going to be starting my PhD in Social Psychology this fall, which I am very excited about. However, starting my PhD means that I will be leaving my current M.S. program, which I have yet to complete.
I have no reservations about this, except how to handle it on my CV. I don't think it's appropriate to leave it off, as I have a ton of research and teaching experience from my time in the program listed on my CV. I also received full funding for this master's program through a research-based fellowship at the university, which I also want to keep on my CV. What makes this even trickier is that the M.S. program was in Applied Psychology, and within that, students choose one of two tracks - Counseling Psychology or I/O Psychology. I spent my first year doing the counseling psych track, and my second year doing the I/O psych track. If I hadn't gotten into a PhD program, I was planning to complete the degree in I/O.
In total, I have 42 graduate credits. I also had great grades (finished with a 3.9 GPA) and relevant coursework while in the program. Just looking to get some opinions on what I should do - how would you all approach this on your CV?
