I went from hybrid to fully remote, and honestly, it’s been a weird trade.

On one hand, I no longer spend hours commuting, which feels like getting a small refund from life. I can make decent coffee, wear comfortable clothes, and start work without being personally victimized by traffic, public transport, or fluorescent office lighting.

Huge win.

But I also miss people.

I miss the random desk chats, the “quick question” that turns into a great idea, and the strange office magic where five people in a room somehow create better energy than twelve people on mute saying, “Sorry, you go.”

Remote work is efficient, but it can also feel like living inside Slack with snacks.

The hardest part has been replacing those natural human moments. In the office, connection just happened. Remotely, you have to schedule it, which immediately makes it feel like homework with a calendar invite.

So yes, working from home is a luxury. No commute is amazing. But I do miss the casual chaos, the brainstorming energy, and the feeling of being around actual humans instead of tiny rectangles.

Remote work: 10/10 for laundry. 6/10 for personality development.
