Hey, guys, so I'm currently working on a piece and I'm having difficulties coming up with a specific phrase. I've tried doing some research, but I'm not getting anything I like, that gives the right vibe.

Currently, my phrase is:

"The hold that music had on her was akin to a titanium vice and it wouldn’t be letting go of her any time soon. Not that she would have wanted that anyway."

I was told that the titanium vice simile had a very 'cold' feel to it, and that I should go for a 'warmer' vibe. But I can't think of or find anything that I feel would fit while maintaining that strong imagery.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
