I had this dream a few years ago and I still can't shake it. Walking the Bay of Bengal at midnight through a bioluminescent storm with glass in the waves.
I was maybe 14 when I had this dream. We were in Calcutta (my mom, my dad, and me) eating pani puri from a stall. But it got late, and we needed to head home.
But here's the thing: my grandparents lived literally in the building right next to the stall. But when I suggested we stop by, my dad said it was too late to disturb them. So instead, we had to walk home.
To Mumbai.
We started walking along the Bay of Bengal. Midnight. In the middle of a cyclone!
The winds were so heavy that we could barely see. My dad said we had to walk in a single file along the water with him first, then my mom, then me. I was at the back.
The waves were bioluminescent. Bright, teal blue. And they were full of huge shards of glass for some reason. And I was barefoot too, and the glass was cutting my feet with every wave that came in. I could feel it hurt and burn, but I still kept walking.
And the sky was completely dark too, except for the lightning, which was also blue. The thunder was so loud, and the rain so cold. And I could literally feel it.
At some point, I saw these straw umbrella stands on the beach, like little shelters, and I asked if we could stop and wait out the storm there. But my dad said no and that we couldn't stop until we're home. So we walked.
I woke up before we got there, obviously. We were never going to get there. But the whole dream was quite unsettling. The glass, the blue waves, being barefoot and bleeding, being at the back of the line, my parents just walking ahead.
I often think of this dream. I don't really know why. It's borderline funny, but also creepy?
Has anyone had a dream that just... stays? Or does anyone know what the hell this dream could have meant?
