Commies, socialists, and altruist folks: proving daily that their whole movement is fueled by sheer cognitive dissonance.

They attack rational self interest as a flaw, yet demand total self sacrifice to make their central planning fantasy work. The ultimate irony is watching altruists condemn the very human nature that makes capitalism thrive, only to fall back on authoritarian force when nobody willingly surrenders their own life for the "collective."

Indiscriminate Unearned Empathy Is Just Disguised Weakness

Elon Musk: "We want to have empathy that is deep, not shallow. I strongly believe we should care about humanity and we should care about the future. But we need to have empathy that is deep, not shallow Shallow empathy is caring about criminals, but deep empathy is caring about the victims of the criminals.”

Ayn Rand: "I regard compassion as proper only toward those who are innocent victims, but not toward those who are morally guilty. If one feels compassion for the victims of a concentration camp, one cannot feel it for the torturers. If one does feel compassion for the torturers, it is an act of moral treason toward the victims."

Why does Ayn Rand get so much hate outside of Objectivist circles?

I've noticed that whenever her name comes up in general philosophy or book subreddits, the reaction is instantly hostile. Why do you think she triggers such a negative reaction from the mainstream compared to other thinkers?

Is it a contradiction to support egoism but oppose homosexuality and fluid gender roles?

If a person's highest moral purpose is their own happiness and self interest, does condemning homosexuality and socially enforcing gender expectations not completely destroy the idea of egoism?
