Rededicate 250 - National Mall

Rededicate 250 - National Mall

Thousands flocked to the National Mall in Washington for an America-themed prayer rally

I doubt we're fortunate enough to have someone here who actually attended, but some may have participated in their own way or watched the proceedings.

Given the speakers, I'm not optimistic about this having been any more than a "Christianese" gesture to voters, but I could be wrong.

Did anyone love and appreciate this? Did you think God had accepted this as a meaningful dedication? Do you think we have the right?

While Trump went golfing, I guess. No surprise.

/sigh

Why Trump’s stock trades are so exceptionally corrupt

>Donald Trump is the most corrupt president in American history.

>Just this week, we found out that in the first quarter of the year, Trump made more than 3,700 financial trades, worth tens of millions of dollars. That averages out to 59 trades a day and nine trades per hour.

>The conflicts of interest and personal corruption are simply astonishing. Many of the companies do business with the federal government. In fact, Trump allegedly bought stock in Amazon and Microsoft months before the Pentagon announced agreements with both companies.

>Earlier this year, Trump bought a sizable amount of Nvidia stock right before the artificial intelligence chipmaker received permission to export its advanced H200 AI processors to China. Not surprisingly, Nvidia’s stock shot up, earning Trump a tidy profit.

>“Neither President Trump, his family, nor The Trump Organization plays any role in selecting, directing, or approving specific investments,” the Trump Organization said in a statement. “They receive no advance notice of trading activity and provide no input regarding investment decisions or portfolio management of any kind.”

>Even if it’s true that Trump is not involved in these stock purchases, the mere appearance of a conflict of interest is why, in the past, presidents have avoided day trading while in office. But not Trump.

One of Trump's first acts in office in 2025 was to eliminate oversight on him by firing Inspectors General, continuing this trend into October of last year.

I can't imagine why.

Treasury Secretary resigning for some weird reason. What a mystery this is.

IRS being told to stop auditing Trump and his fam by the DOJ, because he's been a "victim of weaponization by the Biden administration". You know, when they had the audacity to expect some transparency about it? The wicked will always hide.

Proverbs 28:1 ESV

>The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Trump administration to create $1.776B 'Truth and Justice Commission' to compensate allies: Sources

This is what MAGA voted for, right? "Truth and Justice"? lol

>The Department of Justice is finalizing a deal to launch a so-called "Truth and Justice Commission" and establish a compensation fund of $1,776,000,000 to pay claims made by alleged victims of government "weaponization" in exchange for President Donald Trump dropping his ongoing lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service, sources told ABC News.

>Sources told ABC News that the proposed deal -- which is likely to face legal hurdles and has already been criticized by Democrats as a "slush fund" for Trump's allies -- arose after months of deliberations between the White House and DOJ officials who originally attempted to craft a legal justification for the settlement to compensate Trump directly.

>Internally, DOJ lawyers believed they could ignore the conflict of interest outright, privately arguing that Trump has both the right to sue as a private citizen and the power to command the executive branch as president, according to sources familiar with their discussions.

>Advocating a centuries-old legal principle known as the "rule of necessity," DOJ lawyers have argued that no alternative existed other than letting the lawsuit proceed with Trump acting as the plaintiff while being directly in charge of the defendants -- the IRS and Treasury -- according to sources.

If Trump takes this money, is MAGA so profoundly stupid they still cling to this guy? Y'all won't see a dime of this. You'll pay for it in taxes though. How do you like that?

edit: Brian Morrissey, the department’s general counsel, stepped down hours after the Trump administration announced the $1.8 billion fund.

Much ado about nothing

In the news cycle lately is this, where left-leaning sources are torching Rep. Virginia Foxx' response to a 10-year-old's letter about Electric Vehicle benefits that should earn tax credits. She wrote back to this kid:

>“Incidentally, please ask your teacher to explain propaganda to you. While I will never be able to know you, my guess is that your teachers will not give you a good educational experience and help you learn to think as they are too interested in indoctrinating you. How sad,” Foxx wrote.

>Foxx also argued that paying $5,000 credits would add to the national debt and that Christian and his classmates would be responsible for repaying it. She cited numerous news articles describing negative aspects of electric vehicles.

So again, left leaning sources are lambasting this as an unhinged meltdown, demoralizing, reprehensible, etc.

  1. What in the crap did they expect from a Republican but a Republican opinion?

  2. How was any of this harsh?

  3. She treated his opinion with respect by actually taking it seriously and really responding.

The kid's mom responded by posting it on instagram:

>She told my 10-year-old that he and his classmates are responsible for paying the national debt. She attacked his teachers, his school, his education, and referenced propaganda, indoctrination, and other concepts that a 10-year-old has not been exposed to.

So what? So what he's not familiar? What a great thing to know about his future! He will, in fact, be paying for all of it, as well as the rest of his generation. He will, in fact, be lied to by leaders for their own reasons, which is also a great thing to know. Foxx treated this kid like a real person with a real opinion that she responded to with citations to further her argument. That's what taking him seriously looks like.

This congresswoman is making assumptions about this kid's classroom, and the instructor, which is her own bias showing, but nothing about this was anything like what the left is calling it, and this soccer-mom can get stuffed. She wanted a participation trophy and didn't get it.

Foxx did this kid a favor. Even if she's wrong about EV's (and I think she is) she treated this letter like a serious suggestion that deserved a serious response.

Killing the Voting Rights act says a lot about racism in America

The current administration honestly believes if they just stifle the black vote, they'll win seats, which also means they honestly believe white people will vote for them. There's no question of conscience or putting America first ahead of race: whites will vote for Republicans because that's what white people do, and blacks will vote Democrat because that's what black people do.

I've spent a lot of time in this past decade being unpleasantly surprised at what the "conservative" right is capable of, partly because that was my tribe, and partly because there should be some reasonable expectations about what common decency looks like.

I don't want to be disappointed again. I don't want to find out this administration is right about race, and that crossing out civil rights in the voting booth means they win, despite everything they've done to bend this country over. I don't want to find out we really are this sadly stupid.

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, but I honestly thought we were better than this. I'll continue to hope until America gives me a reason not to... Again. I guess. Sure would be great to see us act like grown-ups though.

IDF troops get prison for desecrating Mary

Israeli troops get prison for desecration of Virgin Mary statue in Lebanon

>JERUSALEM — Two Israeli soldiers will spend weeks in military prison for desecration of a Christian object after one stuck a cigarette in the mouth of a statue of the Virgin Mary in southern Lebanon and the other photographed it.

>The photo of the soldier, a cigarette dangling from his own mouth, went viral and sparked widespread outrage. It was the latest act by Israeli forces to be denounced as anti-Christian in southern Lebanon, where Israel launched a ground invasion earlier this year to target the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group.

>Israel’s military said the soldier posing would get 21 days in military prison and the soldier who photographed it would get 14.

I would have been happy if they just got bent over a stool and got the "board of education" on their backside, but it seems they'll be taking a little time off.

If you think soaking the rich is a good idea, you should hear this

It's Time to Say Goodbye. Davie504

This guy is an awesome bassist I subscribe to on YouTube, great dialogue, and a fun channel. I'm not a musician myself really, but this guy is fun to watch. This video is him saying goodbye to Italy as a home country specifically because the government is soaking everybody, not just the rich.

If you think wealthy Americans are the bad guys, you need to give this a listen. I've always said I'm down for taxes, and for them to be applied in an effective way, and I even agree we need to figure out a better way to do it that closes in on legal tax evasion from corps and the wealthy.

But you need to know this too: This is exactly what conservatives are saying. We can go just as wrong the other way, punishing success, and basically taking the carrot, leaving only the stick. There's a balance to be struck.

Why are you here?

I started participating in this sub much more regularly in the lead-up to the 2024 federal election specifically because I knew Trump was a threat, and I knew there were still quite a lot of Christians who thought he was worth voting for. I'd hoped to show some data and make the case that voting for Trump was like having Jared from Subway babysit your kids.

What I got instead was a fair amount of trolling, and a stunning disregard for data. I might discard the rank and file MAGA as hopeless, but Christians?

Christians who would never accept heresy would surely make a distinction between propaganda and fact. Christians who read about the rise of prideful and self-serving teachers who had already appeared in year one of our faith on this earth that would tear apart our belief in saving grace? Christians who knew Jesus told them to be wary as serpents, yet harmless as doves? Christians who absorbed Proverbs and knew only fools refuse counsel?

If I just showed them the data, right? I should have known better. After COVID I should have known better. I absolutely, stubbornly insisted on thinking the best of my brothers and sisters in Christ. I don't think I was wrong to hope. I think I was wrong to expect this format on reddit to be useful. I still don't get why it's not, but words just go out, bear no apparent fruit, and get read by our future AI overlords to be stored until the power goes out. Is this seriously just a huge waste of time?

If it is a waste of time, why are you here?

WAR BACK ON? Iran crows ‘we’re just getting started’ after Dubai blitz – as Trump refuses to say if ceasefire is still in effect

>IRAN has chillingly warned it is “just getting started” after unleashing a barrage of missiles towards the UAE.

>Monday’s attack sparked fresh fears of full-scale war in the region as Donald Trump refused to say if the ceasefire agreement still stands.

>Trump sank seven Iranian small boats in the Strait of Hormuz as he launched “Project Freedom” to wrestle control of the waterway from the rogue nation.

>The American plan to guide vessels through the strait has already seen several stranded ships escorted to safety.

>But Iran lashed out at its Gulf neighbour, triggering fears that the fragile ceasefire agreement in the region had been shattered.

>Flames ripped through the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, after the Iranian attack injured three.

Allies and/or neighboring countries in the region that had been hesitant to contribute to the war effort are going to realize they need to help for their own sake and they need to go all-in. Iran is proving itself to be so aggressive they just can't be allowed to operate like this.

We kicked the hornet's nest for nothing, but now that it's all abuzz I think it's going to have to come to a resolution. Iran is making an enemy of everybody.

Trump Loses Ground on Several Personal Traits as Approval Rating Slips

>Declines in Trump’s standing have come at least as much from Republicans as from Democrats. Still, Republicans continue to offer generally positive views of the president, his personal traits and his performance on issues.

>Among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents:

  • 68% approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president, down from 73% in January.
  • 70% say “keeps his promises” describes Trump at least fairly well – down 6 percentage points from last year and 14 percentage points from November 2024.
  • 72% express confidence in Trump to use military force wisely, down 11 points from last year. GOP confidence in Trump on foreign policy in general has declined 7 points over this time period.

>By comparison, Democrats and Democratic leaners continue to near-universally disapprove of Trump, little changed from the earliest days of his term. Just 5% today approve of his job performance.

Thousands in US to join ‘no school, no work, no shopping’ May Day protest in economic blackout

>Thousands are set to join an economic blackout for International Workers’ Day on Friday, as part of 3,500 “May Day Strong” events across the country. Organizers are calling for “no school, no work, no shopping” with walkouts, marches, block parties and other gatherings planned into the evening.

>May Day has long been an annual day of protest for the labor movement, and this year, many active movements are converging to fight for “a nation that puts workers over billionaires”. Demanding no ICE, no war, and taxing the rich, the May Day Strong coalition includes labor unions, immigrants rights groups, political organizations such as the Democratic Socialists of America, and the organizers behind the No Kings protests. Friday’s economic disruption builds on a similar coordinated effort out of Minnesota in January, when tens of thousands of Twin Cities residents took off from school and work to flood the streets in protest of federal immigration agents storming the city.
